Located on the foothills of the famous snow-capped Atlas Mountains, the former imperial city of Morocco is today a fascinating tourist destination. Also referred to as the 'red city' Marrakech is well known for its mystic aura, colourful lifestyle and for the little treasures which tend to pop up at the most unexpected turn.
Traces of the wealth that constituted the old city along with the rich lifestyle Moroccans lead are obvious by the architecture and the landscape of the old city. And today Djemaa el Fna, the traditional town square, also known as the ‘souk’, bustles with snake charmers, belly dancers, acrobats and story-tellers, each with their own story to relate, and by night the square is filled with the rich aroma of spices and herb as the souk converts to a huge open-air restaurant - the highlight of Morocco par excellence!
The best way to experience Marrakech is to allow the town to decide your fate.
Start this exiting journey at the Djemaa el Fna it self. Venture down any one of the covered market streets, headed towards the north, and make sure to keep all your options open - best way to rouse your sixth sense. With luck you should emerge from the labyrinth at the most unexpected spot, with a couple of loots, completely healed of all your aliments and a heal-it-all medicinal potion to take back home.
If you survive the Djemaa el Fna test you may also want try some of the other well known attractions and also tantalize your taste buds with the rich Moroccan cuisine, and test to what extent you can stomach the spices.
The minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque dominates the Marrakech skyline, actually offers the best reference point for the lost traveller. The 12th century structure with its authentic Moroccan architectural design is best admired at close quarters. The ruins of the El Badi Palace, built in 1578 by the Midas of Marrakech showcase the glorious past. The ruins feature an original 12th-century marquetry minbar (pulpit) inlaid with silver and gold and also serves as a venue for the National Festival of Popular Arts.
A blend of European and African influences has created the unique culinary delight - the Moroccan food. All foods are flavoured by rich spices and herbs and the most popular and common dish is the granular semolina couscous. Generally served with rich stews or meats roasted till tender the couscous serves as a complete Moroccan indulgence. Onion, apricot, figs, raisins and nuts are used bring out the rich flavour of the cuisine. Rich and dense confections, generally filled with spices and nuts and soaked in honey, complement the Moroccan savouries.

Is there anything more luxurious than taking a cruise holiday? Travelling to exotic locations on a luxury ship, catching some sun and breathing in the sea breezes, can renew and revitalise anyone, no matter how weary you are from working.
Cruise travel is much more than just a way to get from one location to the next. It used to be that the only reason to get on board a ship, was to get from one destination to another. Today they are much more than just a means of transport. They offer much more than that.
In fact, today, the cruises that are available are designed just for you and others like you. With so many ships and destinations to choose from, you may actually have more difficulty choosing just one rather than finding any that fit your needs.
I have been on the Superstar Gemini. It was one of the best holidays that I have had. Once on the ship, you unpack and that is it until you return. You travel from country to country, with no worries about passports etc. It is very relaxing.
The ships have a multitude of activities to suit everyone but you don't have to do anything if that is what you want. While on the Gemini, I met people that had been on the ship 10 times before. They just stay on the ship now and don't get off to go ashore.
My ultimate cruise is to go on "The World". I would love to combine my love of cruising with my love of world travel and stopping off at all of the major places in the world to see. If anyone out there could arrange that, so that I could have a prominent section about it on my website, please let me know.
One of the best benefits of the cruises that are available today, is that many of them offer you the ability to find the right location and the right group of people to travel with.
Here are a few of the various cruise themes that you can find:
Families and children. In an effort to get more young families to travel on a cruise vacation, many of the childrens favorite theme parks and characters now sponsor cruises. You can find a wide range of Disney themed cruises as well as those for Nickelodeon and many others. Of course, many of the luxury liners also offer childrens specific activities, but when you are a young family, a themed childs vacation may be the ideal way to go.
Singles. Here is another option for those that are looking to get something out of their cruise. If you would love to take a cruise but do not have someone to go with, why not go alone? You may meet a soul mate on board or at least you can have lots of fun looking for them.
Seniors. For those that would rather leave the grand children at home, there are plenty of options for older people on a cruise. These are more laid back and much less child oriented cruises. They are designed for those that would like to try something new or visit another culture. You will find a wide range of choices in them.
There are many more cruise options for you. Consider any and all of them to find the one that fits your needs the best.
There are plenty of reasons why you should take a cruise. If you are like most people, you will enjoy getting away from it all. A cruise will allow you to do just that.
In fact, you do not have to worry about getting to all the places you want to visit in time. There is no rushing around. There are plenty of reasons to use cruise travel as your main way to spend your vacation.
Here are some reasons why you may want to consider this type of vacation:
It is affordable. There are plenty of deals happening each and every day, virtually all times of the year. You can find a wide range of discounts available in the off seasons, but there are plenty to go around any time of the year. Most of the time, you will spend less on a cruise than you will on a big vacation.
There is plenty to see. When you take a cruise, you can travel to a wide range of places around the world. You can experience a wide range of different cultures. There is also plenty for you to experience on the actual ship as well.
You can meet lots of new people. A cruise is a great place to meet a wide range of people. You do not even need to get off the ship to do so either. There are many people that are ready and waiting for you to meet them. You can meet people your own age or meet someone with the same interest.
You can do new things. On the ship and off, there are many things that you can do to enjoy the time that you have. You can learn to rock climb or go scuba diving. You can learn to water ski or go fishing in the ocean. There is no limit to the options that you have.
Cruise travel has many rewards to offer those that are looking for something a little more relaxed or something that is a bit different. Check out the various options that are available because not only can you do the things that you would like to do, but you can find a wide range of options to choose from to fit your needs and lifestyle.
If you are worried about what there is to do on your cruise ship, you may not have anything to worry about at all. Unlike your long flight on an airplane to your destination, you are going to find many things to do on your ship.
In fact, some say that the best part of their vacation is the ship itself and not the destination at all. One thing is for sure. If you book a great cruise, you will enjoy all the relaxation that you can get.
There are plenty of things to keep you busy on board the ship. If you are looking for something to do, consider the options that are available to you.
Here are just a few:
1. If you are traveling with children, this may be one of your biggest worries. Will the kids have something to do? First off, make sure that you book a cruise that is geared towards kids and families as this will allow for more to do in the long run. Nevertheless, there are plenty of options. Many of the cruises will offer all sorts of activities from games and swimming to learning adventures and lots of play time. Most have plenty of activities to keep the kids happy.
2. If you are into sports, there are plenty of options here as well. Your cruise may be ideal for swimming and working out as most of them feature a wide range of options. They generally have many things set up for you including a swimming pool, exercise room, games on deck, events and then when you get to your destination, you have more. You can often go snorkeling and deep sea diving. You can go water skiing and even consider going rock climbing. Look at what your cruise has to offer.
3. Entertainment is the key to a great cruise and you will find plenty of this available as well. If you are going to enjoy your cruise, make sure that the types of entertainment that you enjoy are there. This will include shows, musicals, comedy, movies and parties. Dining options are always amazing and include everything from casual dining to 5 star restaurants. I remember the captains dinner and all of the waiters coming out with the desserts on fire. Very spectacular!
Before booking your cruise, make sure the ship has what you are looking for.
There are plenty of cruise destinations out there. You can go to Mexico or South America. You can visit Asia or even Europe and Africa. The beautiful Pacific Islands. What about Alaska or the Antarctic.
The world is full of possibilities when it comes to a cruise.
You can go virtually any place that you would like to on a cruise. I highly recommend a cruise vacation. It is a very relaxing way to travel.

The Paradores of Spain are so much more than luxury hotels. They are repositories of the romance and passion that is the history of this country. These special places literally exude the ancient perfume of Spain's majesty and mystery. Experiencing the Paradors of Spain is 'cultural tourism' at it's best - and a giant step above the usual tourist experience.
The Paradores of Spain are medieval castles, Moorish fortresses, ancient monasteries, charming palaces and stately manor houses. These are places of great historical interest and rare beauty.
If the Paradores Chain did not exist, it would be imposible to dream of spending an evening in a building that has lodged kings, nobility and other personalities from Spanish history, or to sleep in the same bedrooms that were used by the grandes of the country.
The walls of these national monuments, throughout the years, have kept the secrets of the legends and actions that they have witnessed; a history that Paradores has had the ability to skilfully recall by converting them into quality hotels.
On the other hand, one must highlight the work in restoring these monuments that would otherwise be allowed to fall apart and today, be forgotten.
A hospital, a convent, a castle or a palace… they all are unique buildings that Paradores has managed to sabe and to restore and turn into special tourist establishments that are standard bearers of excellence in quality.
Ther are a perfect combination between comfortable surroundings and the magnificence of a unique building.
An example, The Parador Toledo is set on a remarkable site that
has un matched views out over the city. The building was originally built by the Count of Toledo in the 14th century and is completely Toledan in character. The restaurant serves as a school for the chefs of the other paradors, and the meals are nothing short of spectacular. There is much to see in Toledo, so you'll stay here for two nights. And you can enjoy the city: Toledo - the Imperial city - the city of three cultures. For many, Toledo mesmerizes - it exudes a strangely powerful attraction - dark, claustrophobic and profound. It was the seat of the Spanish Inquisition, the home of the brilliantly disturbed El Greco, and the scene of both vicious and heroic events during the Spanish civil war.
Dignified Toledo is full of splendor and endless surprises for the traveler. It is architecturally and culturally fascinating like few other cities could be. To look at Toledo from afar, is to be beguiled and astonished.
Another example for visiting, is The Parador Avila… backs right up against those very walls. You can walk out the doors of the Parador, across to a nearby park, and up some ancient stone stairs to the top of these magnificent fortifications - truly a walk back into time. The Parador is a former 16th century palace with granite floors and large bright rooms. It has pleasant gardens, and the restaurant serves the delicious specialties of Castile in a large stone and wood dining room. All together - you are assured of a memorable stay.
Avila rests in stately slumber behind perfectly preserved medieval walls. It's almost as if time has passed her by, yet she waits patiently for today's new pilgrims - the intrepid tourists.
Avila is for walking. In this "city of knights and nuns," you'll walk in the very footsteps of Saint Teresa - past her own Convento de Santa Teresa - past Spain's oldest gothic cathedral - past numerous stately homes, medieval and renaissance palaces - and along the top of the muralla - the awe inspiring city wall.
But the chain of Paradores is big… here you are a full description of each Spanish Parador package:
The "Soul of Spain" Spanish Parador package is a once-in-a-lifetime odyssey through timeless, monumental cities - the World Heritage Cities.
These places are so unique they have been classified by UNESCO as repositories of the heritage of humanity.
The "Finest of Spain" Spanish Parador package takes you to the most excellent of Spain. This package is for those who demand luxury, history, architectural beauty - and who have the time and inclination to enjoy themselves to the fullest.
These Paradors are all 4 and 5 star, but more - they are among the most unique and fascinating hotels in the world.
The "Castles of Spain" Spanish Parador package takes you on a magical and romantic trip into the past. Sleep where knights and kings slept, and walk in their very footsteps.
You'll enjoy accommodations in the finest castles in Spain, and have a travel experience like no other.
The "Passion of Spain" Spanish Parador package takes you through the south of Spain - Andalucia - where life is "a fire and a romance."
The "Catalan Spain" Spanish Parador package is a surprise-filled jaunt through the wildly varying land that is Catalunya.
Gothic, Gaudi, Costa Brava and the Pyrenees - all in one incredible tour.
The "Isles of Spain" Spanish Parador package takes you to the "land of eternal spring" - the Canary Islands.
These wonder-filled islands hide very special places of primeval beauty few travelers ever see.
The "Secret of Spain" Spanish Parador package takes you on a captivating trek through Extremadura - Spain's 'outback.'
This tour will let you experience what Spain was like before the invasion of the tourist hoards. Roam this still-traditional, homeland of the conquistadores.
The "Emerald of Spain" Spanish Parador package is a very special trip through a different Spain - a verdant countryside that glistens every shade of green - Galicia.
The cuisine is different, the language is different, the landscape is different - the Gallegos are different - and all in a completely enchanting way.
The "Heart of Spain" Spanish Parador package takes you on a route that circles Madrid and includes all the "must see" cities that are situated around Spain's great capital.
Stay in castles, former convents and palaces while visiting the heartland of Spain.
The "Wine and Paradors" tour #1 takes you on a route that includes the famous wine areas of La Rioja, and the Ribera Del Duero. It includes stays at two famous Bodegas, wine tasting, viniculture museums - everything wine!

Yosemite National Park
Yosemite National Park, one of the first wilderness parks in the United States, is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more.
Yosemite National Park covers nearly 1,200 square miles of mountainous terrain in the Sierra Nevada of California.
You can visit Yosemite all year, though some areas of the park are inaccessible by car from approximately November through May due to snow. You can drive your car into and around Yosemite, though we encourage you to use shuttle buses in some areas.
Reservations are not required to enter Yosemite, however we strongly recommend that you make reservations for camping or lodging if you plan to spend the night.
If you're planning a trip to Yosemite, first decide during which season you plan to visit, then decide where you'll spend the night (if you spend the night) so you can make lodging or camping reservations. Then, you can find the answer to the age-old question about what there is to do in Yosemite.
Yosemite is full of opportunity! Explore Yosemite by hiking or biking. Spend some time with a park ranger learning about Yosemite or get a broad overview by taking a bus tour.
What is there to do in Yosemite?
This common question is a difficult one to answer... because there are so many answers.
If you're planning a trip to Yosemite, first decide during which season you plan to visit, then decide where you'll spend the night (if you spend the night) so you can make lodging or camping reservations. Then, you can find the answer to the age-old question about what there is to do in Yosemite.
Yosemite National Park is open 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, and no reservations are required to visit. However, the Hetch Hetchy Entrance Station is open only during daylight hours (approximately) and some roads are closed due to snow from around November through May or June. (Check road conditions and Hetch Hetchy hours.)
Did You Know?
Giant sequoias are a fire adapted species. Their bark is fire resistant and
fire helps open the sequoia cone and scatter the tiny seeds. Fire also clears forest debris from the mineral soil and provides a nutrient rich seed bed as well as clearing competing species.
Did You Know?
Yosemite Falls is fed mostly by snowmelt. Peak flow usually happens in late May, but by August, Yosemite Falls is often dry. It begins flowing again a few months later, after winter snows arrive.

The majestic Copper Canyon, a nature park in the state of Chihuahua, spans more than 600 km (372 mi) in length and 250 km (155 mi) in width. Due to the various types of terrain, you’ll experience extreme climates, with cold winds in the high areas and hot weather at the bottom of the canyons, where it can reach up to 40º C (104º F) during the summer.
This enormous canyon system is deeper than the Grand Canyon at certain points; the average depth is between 1520 to 1879 meters (5,017 to 6,200 feet). Among some of the major canyons are the Urique, Sinforosa, Batopilas, Candameña, Huapoca and Septentrion, to mention just a few. The impressive natural environment is the habitat of a countless number of plant and animal species.
One of the best ways to see the Copper Canyon’s natural wonders is by train. The Chihuahua-Pacifico train, also known as Chepe, makes several stops along the way.
Not only does the park offer spectacular natural beauty, but it also allows you to enjoy ecotourism outings and adventure sports. In fact, it hosts the Festival de Turismo de Aventura (Festival of Adventure Tourism), which draws hundreds of visitors from all over the world each year. What’s more, you can witness the magic and mysticism of the Holy Week festivities held in Raramuri indigenous communities. During your stay, you can also visit various missions in the forests, see spectacular waterfalls and take in unbeatable views from the numerous lookouts. If that’s not enough, the rich culture, crafts and cuisine are certain to leave a lasting impression.
WHITEWATER RAFTING
In the Parque Nacional Barrancas del Cobre you’ll find several rivers where you can go rafting, particularly during the rainy season from June to September, when the rivers swell and the rapids become much more challenging.
Rio Papigochi. Located in the northern part of the Parque Nacional Barrancas del Cobre, about 50 km (31 mi) west of Madera. This river runs through the Huapoca region, along the bottom of the Huapoca Canyon. The class III rapids are ideal for whitewater rafting.
El Rio Urique. Located in the central region of the Parque Nacional Barrancas del Cobre, in the town of Urique. This river, which runs along the bottom of the Copper Canyon, is navigable year-round; it has class III and IV rapids.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
The Copper Canyon has many routes for hiking and horseback riding. The large canyons are also ideal for rappelling and climbing. If you’d like to do these activities, we recommend that you hire a professional guide.
Peña del Gigante – Located in the northwestern part of the Parque Natural Barrancas del Cobre, in the Candameña Canyon, within the Parque Nacional Cascada de Basaseachi. This impressive steep has an 884-meter (2,917-foot) vertical cliff. The five routes have 5.12 and 5.13 grades of difficulty, making them ideal for rappelling and climbing.
Rancho San Lorenzo – Located in the northwestern part of the Parque Natural Barrancas del Cobre, in the heart of the Sierra Tarahumara, within the Parque Nacional Cascada de Basaseachi. This is a great spot for rock climbing, as it has 54 routes with varying difficulty levels, ranging from 5.8 to 5.13. In addition, this place offers lodging, food service and guided tours.

Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende
The grandest of Mexico’s silver mining towns, Guanajuato has often been likened to the city of Toledo in Spain. The town winds around a hillside dotted with flower gardens and lively side streets with a maze of corkscrew lanes that turn into plazas, hidden alleys and stairways. According to the legend of the Street of the Kiss, Guanajuato’s alleys are so narrow, lovers can lean from their balconies to embrace. The opulence of its churches attests to the riches of the mine owners who built them.
La Valenciana church, for example, constructed in 1788, is said to
have been built with mortar fused with wine and silver.
The Union Garden is the elegant main plaza, ringed by cozy outdoor cafes, which add to the town’s quaint and romantic atmosphere.
Other attractions include the downtown crafts market; the Mercado Hidalgo, a 1910 cast-iron-and-glass building designed by Gustave Eiffel; the Alhondiga de Granaditas museum, which
outlines the importance it played in the War of Independence; the Mineralogy Museum; and the Hacienda of San Miguel de Barrera, filled with impressive furnishings and art collections.
San Miguel de Allende, about an hour away by road, is another beautifulmountain city famous as an artists’ and writers’ colony, with a large population of retired U.S. and Canadians residents.
Founded in 1542, it’s also a well-preserved colonial mining town with a famous Gothic Revival church called La Parroquia, designed by the self-taught native Ceferino Gutierrez in the late 19th century.
The cobblestone streets lead to the animated town square, lovely colonial mansions, cafes, restaurants, and shops with outstanding tin handicrafts.
Events like the annual chamber music and jazz festivals, plus art shows and local fairs, have made it a cultural hub of the region.
The Colonial Treasures of Mexico Route…
Aguascalientes, Queretaro, Guanajuato, San Luis Potosi, Zacatecas
Tips Tour:
Days 1 & 2 Queretaro (World Heritage Site)
Queretaro (airports: BJX and QRO) is one of the most prosperous and modern cities in Mexico.
The Centro Historico, a World Heritage Site, is filled with beautiful
examples of baroque architecture in soft-colored cantera stone, including Santa Cruz church and convent, and the churches of San Felipe and Santa Rosa de Viterbo.
You’ll also find old mansions turned into elegant hotels, cozy restaurants and boutiques.
Just outside the Centro Historico you will find the old aqueduct that supplied Queretaro with water; its arches are a symbol of the city. Make a side trip to Guanajuato and then to San Miguel de Allende, a well-preserved colonial city with the only neogothic cathedral in Mexico.
Day 3 San Luis Potosi
Known as the City of Gardens, San Luis Potosi (airport: SLP) is remarkable for its neoclassic
architecture. The best examples are the Teatro de la Paz, the Templo de San Francisco. San Luis Rey Cathedral has outstanding Churrigueresque ornaments, and the town is well known for its Silent Procession during Holy Week.
Queretaro to San Luis Potosi: 202 kms/125 miles
Day 4 San Luis Potosi to Aguascalientes
Aguascalientes (airport AGU) is an interesting mix of old neighborhoods, monuments, baroque architecture, modern buildings and plazas.
It is famous across Mexico for handcrafts, particularly textiles. Openwork embroidery (deshilados) designs are passed down from generation to generation.
Aguascalientes is also home to an important regional wine industry, with visits and tastings possible.
San Luis Potosi to Aguascalientes: 168 km/104 miles
Days 5 & 6 Zacatecas (World Heritage Site)
Zacatecas (airport: ZCL), built mostly of pink cantera stone, is perhaps the most beautiful
colonial city of Mexico. Silver mines fueled the building of Zacatecas’ ornately carved cathedral, the Palacio de Gobierno (Governor’s Mansion) and many other churches and public buildings.
The city was built on very steep terrain. Take the Funicular 82 m/270 ft to the top of the Cerro de la Bufa, for an exciting perspective of Zacatecas.

When you think about booking a holiday do you dream of golden beaches, blue skies and beautiful oceans? If so, the idea of travelling to somewhere with a cooler climate may not immediately appeal. But heading to less obvious destinations can make for some great holidays.Ireland is one holiday destination than I like a lot. It may not be somewhere that you've ever thought of visiting. After all, it's not necessarily the most obvious place to go on holiday. Although it certainly does have some golden, sandy beaches, it is not renowned for its great weather.
But that doesn't mean that it's not a great place to spend time. On the contrary, you'll find that there's plenty to keep you and your family entertained in Ireland. This is a country with welcoming people, with beautiful landscapes and with interesting contrasts.
As you turn your thoughts to Ireland, you may naturally find that you think of its capital city, Dublin. There is certainly much to admire in Dublin, with its splendid Georgian buildings and its great nightlife. Many people visit the city and don't stray into the rest of the country.
This is something of a shame because there is much more to Ireland and its capital. Indeed, even if you're not interested in the wonderful countryside, there is much to keep you entertained in Ireland's other major cities. There are few better places, for example, to spend time than in the city of Galway.
Ireland is a country in which you can experience a fantastic culture and history of the Irish people. It makes entertaining, educational and fun holiday experience.
The next time that you're looking to book a holiday, don't be too quick to dismiss his country. This is a place where you can experience traditional folk music, sample the brilliant pub atmosphere and enjoy learning about what makes Ireland so special.

By: Shristy Chandran About the Author Shristy Chandran writes on various travel topics like holiday villas, villas in Nerja and villas in Spain
Renting one of the holiday villas in Spain is like putting the luxe in luxury. In fact, many, including Hollywood A-listers, consider renting holiday villas in Spain a major luxury that comes with fame and money. And, we mean, who wouldn’t? Imagine having to wake up with the sweeping view of the mountains, the sun kissing your face, and with almost every pleasure imaginable right within your reach.
Renting holiday villas is like buying your very own hotel for your accommodation in Spain. Aside from having all the five star hotel-like amenities, holiday villas in Spain are annually improved by their owners and property manager so you will not only have what you need but what you desire. Holiday villas in Spain are the epitome of grandiosity and splendor of the Hispanic culture and tradition. Built to be the perfect picture of the festivity of Spain, holiday villas are designed with bright colored walls, planned with grand staircase, given with generous veranda, and fitted with modern luxuries.
And the best thing about these villas is that you have all these amenities all to yourself. Hollywood A-listers and elites invest in these villas not for the amenities itself, not even for the status that comes with owning one, but the sense of privacy and that they and their family are safely tucked in by the villas, away from the prying eyes of outsiders.
If you’re planning to rent villas in Nerja, it is best that you do some research on the available villas months before your planned vacation. Villas in this area vary not only in terms of their architectural design but most importantly with what they offer. From mountain foothills to beachside property, villas greatly differ even with those that can be found in the same area. In spite of their differences, only one thing can be sure: They offer private luxury and the best living.
Villas are essentially large and spacious spaces. If you are googling for two bedroom-villas in Spain, then, you’ll find none. Villas automatically translates to luxe living, so all that are available are simply spacious enough to house over a dozen guests. Following traditional Spanish architectural practices, holiday villas in Nerja boast of grand towers, columns, colonnades, extensive reservoirs, and gardens. The better view and amenities, the grander the price tag. Essentially, price is not an object to those who plan to rent or buy a grand edifice, but for travelers who will be staying a week, remembering that amenities pump up the rent on these items. In renting holiday villas, make sure that you check all these before paying your accommodation.
The Maya Route...
Tabasco, Chiapas, Campeche,Yucatan, Quintana Roo.
If you are a culture lover, we suggest you the maya route…
The area of influence of the Maya covers approximately 500,000 square kilometers in southeastern Mexico and Central America. The Mexican portion of the Maya Route (Ruta Maya) crosses the states of Tabasco, Campeche, Chiapas, Yucatan and Quintana Roo. It takes you to the most important Maya sites, set against the magnificent jungles and natural settings of southern Mexico. Sites are generally open 8 am to 6 pm, although hours may vary.
Tips Tour:
Days 1 & 2 Villahermosa & Palenque

the ancient (and current) Maya world.
The Museo Parque la Venta in Villahermosa is dedicated to the Olmec culture. A visit will help you understand how the civilizations of southern Mexico evolved.
From Villahermosa, take Federal Highway 186 to Palenque, located in the state of Chiapas. Palenque dates from the Classic Maya period.
Its many buildings—“The Palace” (El Palacio) and the Temples of the Sun, the Cross and the Cross with Leaves— flank a huge plaza and the very mysterious Temple of the Inscriptions (a
rare example in the Americas of a pyramid used as a tomb).

Days 3-5 Villahermosa to Campeche
Drive from Villahermosa to Campeche (381 km/236 miles) The city
of Campeche (Airport CPE) is an ancient commercial port in the Gulf of Mexico. Frequently visited by pirates, Campeche built an impressive system of walls and forts in the 17th and 18th centuries that you can see today.
In the State of Campeche’s southeastern corner lies Calakmul Biosphere Reserve, with the impressive Maya archaeological site Calakmul, a World Heritage Site. It is not easily accessible, so hiring a guide and special vehicle is recommended.
Villahermosa to Campeche: 381 km/236 miles
Days 6-8 Campeche to Merida
Merida (Airport MID) was founded by the Spanish over the older Maya city of T‘Ho (meaning “facing infinity”). It is known as “the white city” because of the color of many colonial and 19th-century mansions there.
Uxmal has a not-to-be missed Light & Sound show every night at 9:00 pm. It is an exciting way to learn about the site’s history.
Chichen Itza’s Observatory and the pyramid of Kukulkan are the masterpieces of Maya architecture.
Merida to Chichen Itza: 121 Km/75 miles
Merida to Uxmal: 78 Km/48 miles
Days 9 & 10 Merida to Cancun
South of Cancun starts the Riviera Maya, a mix of resorts, small towns and beautiful protected areas on the Caribbean.

Merida to Cancun: 300 kms/186 miles
